Communal Records is an independent record label and music company in the New York area. It strives to be a home for talented independent artists and help them achieve their full potential.

Communal Records was started by Zeeshan Zaidi, a former major record label executive who held many key roles in the music, media and technology industries. These included roles in the marketing and digital departments of BMG, Arista Records, J Records, RCA and Sony Music. There, Zeeshan worked on the careers of many superstar artists, including OutKast, CeeLo Green, Santana, Usher, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Velvet Revolver, Whitney Houston, and Sarah McLachlan. Prior to that, he was an independent producer, and his credits included engineering and producing the first demo for Grammy-nominated artist Ryan Leslie. However, his most rewarding and exciting experiences involved working with new artists.

Zeeshan always wanted to provide major label-quality services to up and coming artists, combined with the focus and attention that only a small indie label can give.  That desire led to the creation of Communal Records.
